Quartz sand is an important raw material for making glass, sodium silicate, semiconductors, optical fibers, lasers, and is also an essential material in high-tech fields such as aerospace, atomic energy technology, and military industry. Quartz sand is used in different fields and has different purity requirements. According to purity requirements, the production process of quartz sand can be divided into single quartz sand production process and combined quartz sand production process.
The joint quartz sand production process is mainly used when a single process cannot meet the purification requirements. Common joint quartz sand production processes include: scrubbing grading desliming, scrubbing desliming magnetic separation, rod friction washing desliming magnetic separation flotation, rod friction washing desliming magnetic separation flotation, and other processes.
1. Quartz sand scrubbing grading desliming process
The quartz sand scrubbing grading desliming process is to use a mechanical scrubbing machine to scrub and deslim the qualified minerals obtained after screening, in order to remove the clay impurities on the surface of the ore particles. Then, it enters the classifier to separate the quartz sand from the clay impurities and achieve separation. It is generally used in the weathering, sedimentation, and mineralization process, where a large amount of clay minerals and iron form cement or adhesive quartz sand minerals on the surface of the quartz.
2. Scrubbing Desliming Magnetic Separation Process
This process involves using a wet strong magnetic separator with a capacity of over 10000Oe to remove iron containing impurities after wiping and removing mud. It is generally suitable for processing weakly magnetic impurities such as limonite, hematite, and biotite in quartz, as well as strong magnetic impurities such as magnetite.
3. Rod friction washing desliming magnetic separation flotation process
The rod friction washing desliming magnetic separation flotation process uses a rod friction washing machine, which completes the scrubbing by adding chemicals, and then performs magnetic separation after graded desliming. The quartz sand minerals obtained after magnetic separation are then subjected to flotation to improve the purity of quartz sand. It is mainly suitable for processing quartz sand ores containing feldspar.
4. Rod friction washing desliming magnetic separation flotation acid leaching process
This process flow is used to obtain higher purity quartz sand after scrubbing, magnetic separation, and flotation separation (which can obtain quartz with a purity of 99.3% to 99.9%, meeting basic industrial needs). It is purified to over 99.99% through acid leaching and is mainly suitable for continuous growth of quartz ore in the form of spots and inclusions.
