Preliminary experiment

In March 2017. Tuxingsun Mining completed a clay gold beneficiation project in West Africa. Xi’an nonferrous metals laboratory determined that the gold content of the placer gold deposit was 22G/T. Based on the nature of the ore and the actual situation of the concentrator, Tuxingsun Mining  eventually chose gravity separation.

Direct gravity separation of the clay gold deposit yields 380.31g/t gold concentrate, and the recovery rate is 98.78%; gravity separation of clay gold after grinding yields 93.46g/t gold concentrate, and the recovery rate is 99.34%. In contrast to direct gravity separation, this process yields a much higher gold recovery rate.

Many clay gold deposits contain cemented mud mass, some of which are more than 100mm in size. Without breakage, this mud mass will be removed with a waste rock during screening, resulting in the gold loss. Furthermore, vibrating screens and drum screens are commonly used as screening equipment, which has a long service life and a large capacity for processing.

Gravity separation has proven to be an effective and economical method of treating separating gold from clay. As clay gold has a different particle size composition, the effective particle size limit of different clay gold beneficiation equipment on the treated materials will also vary, so a reasonable clay gold beneficiation process must combine several different gravity separation equipment.

Technical advantages

There is no complicated process flow, and theclay gold ore beneficiation equipment is low cost and easy to operate. Furthermore, the process is environmentally friendly and can directly discharge tailings, reducing the civil construction investment of the entire concentrator project.
