The flotation method for treating weakly magnetic iron ore can be divided into two types: positive flotation and reverse flotation, with positive flotation being the main method currently used.
Iron ore positive flotation process flow
1.Raw ore preparation:
The raw iron ore undergoes coarse and fine crushing to a certain particle size for subsequent processing.
The ore is dried to remove moisture and improve flotation efficiency.
2.Water quality adjustment:
Water is a crucial factor in the flotation process. It is usually necessary to adjust the water quality to ensure the activity of flotation agents and improve flotation efficiency.
3.Medication addition:
Flotation agents are key factors in the flotation process, including collectors, foaming agents, adjusters, etc. The type and dosage of reagents need to be adjusted according to the properties of the ore to achieve the best flotation effect.
4.Positive flotation:
Positive flotation is the use of selective adsorption of flotation agents to separate valuable minerals from ores.
In the flotation machine, pulp is injected and stirred, and air is introduced to produce foam. Under the action of flotation agent, valuable mineral particles attach to foam and float to the pulp surface.
The flotation foam is collected and pressed to obtain a concentrate containing valuable minerals.
5.Reverse flotation (optional):
In some cases, reverse flotation steps may be necessary to further separate and purify the concentrate.
Reverse flotation is the use of selective adsorption of flotation agents to separate unwanted minerals from the concentrate that has already been flotation.
6.Concentrate collection and tailings treatment:
The concentrate after flotation is collected, dehydrated and dried to obtain high-grade iron ore concentrate.
Tailings are gangue minerals that are discarded during the flotation process and minerals that have not been flotation extracted. The treatment of tailings usually includes steps such as concentration and drying to reduce its impact on the environment.
Technological advantages
Efficient Separation: The positive flotation process can effectively separate valuable minerals and gangue minerals from iron ore, improving the recovery rate of iron ore.
Improving concentrate quality:The quality of iron ore concentrate can be improved through positive flotation and (optional) reverse flotation.
Flexibility:The process operation is flexible, and the type and dosage of flotation agents can be adjusted according to the properties and needs of the ore to achieve the best flotation effect.
Environmentally friendly:There is no need to add chemical agents during the flotation process, reducing environmental pollution and resource waste.
The iron ore positive flotation beneficiation process separates valuable minerals from the ore by utilizing the selective adsorption of flotation agents. It has the advantages of efficient separation, improved concentrate quality, flexibility, and environmental friendliness, providing effective technical support for the processing and utilization of iron ore.
Typical beneficiation plant
Dong’anshan beneficiation plant: The raw ore grade is about 33%, and under alkaline conditions, positive flotation is carried out to obtain a concentrate iron grade of 60%, with a recovery rate of about 73%.
